The Four Equals String Quartet is a professional chamber ensemble based in the Chicago area. Founded by Carmen Ableson (violin), Maria Arrua (violin), Roslyn Green (viola), and Philip Bergman (cello), the members met and began performing recitals around the city as part of their Civic Fellowships with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
While the musicians are busy orchestral performers in orchestras including the Elgin Symphony, the Illinois Symphony, the Illinois Philharmonic, Chicago Opera Theater, Northwest Indiana Symphony, Orchestra Iowa, the West Michigan Symphony, and the Milwaukee Symphony, in 2020 they reconnected as The Four Equals String Quartet to perform concerts and events.
